Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra created magic with their on-screen chemistry in `Kaminey` and filmmaker Kunal Kohli hopes the actors will deliver another impressive performance in his upcoming romantic film.
Shahid and Priyanka were paired opposite each other for the first time in `Kaminey` (2009), which revolved around gangsters, politicians and cops.
The Vishal Bhardwaj-directed film was a huge hit at the box office and the on-screen chemistry of Shahid and Priyanka became a talking point.
Now they would be seen together in Kohli`s `Teri Meri Kahaani`, which depicts love stories in three time periods - 1910, 1960 and 2012 - spread over three cities. It will hit theatres on June 22.
According to Kohli, chemistry between two characters has to be first reflected in script, from where it is taken forward on-screen.
"I feel chemistry has to be on paper first. Two actors cannot have right on-screen chemistry if that chemistry is missing from the script. First, characters have to portray the chemistry and then actors take it forward," he told PTI in an interview.
In `Teri Meri Kahani`, the first story (1910) is set in Lahore, where Priyanka plays a Punjabi girl, Aradhana, who is in love with a Muslim boy Javed, played by Shahid.
In the second (1960), Shahid plays a struggling music director, Govind, and Priyanka is a famous actress, Rukhsar, and they fall in love in Mumbai.
The third time (2012), the couple falls in love as Radha and Krish in England.
"I would say all the love stories (in three time periods) are entertaining and that is the key feature of the film. They are not melodramatic. All hit love stories whether it is `Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge`, `Hum Aapke Hai Kaun`, `Kuch Kuch Hota Hai` or `Hum Tum`, are entertaining," Kohli said.
Kohli said Shahid signed for "Teri Meri Kahaani" even without listening to the full script.
"In case of Priyanka, I had gone to her for a film but that did not happen and then I offered her this film. She liked this a lot and that`s how both came on board."
