New Delhi: The brains behind the remake of the 1991 hit ‘Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin’ are reportedly torn between two actresses – Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor – to rope in as the lead. While the original starred Aamir Khan and Pooja Bhatt in pivotal roles and Emraan Hashmi has been zeroed in on as the actor to step in the shoes of Aamir, the hunt for the leading lady is now down to Alia and Shraddha.
The remake, which is to be produced jointly by Bhushan Kumar, Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt was a huge hit back in the 1990s. The original itself was inspired by the 1934 Hollywood film ‘It Happened One Night’ and was produced by Gulshan Kumar (Bhushan Kumar’s father) and the Bhatt brothers.
While Shraddha Kapoor was last seen in ‘Aashiqui 2’ with Aditya Roy Kapur and the film emerged a blockbuster, Alia Bhatt was a part of Karan Johar’s ‘Student Of The Year’ – which too, was a hit.
As per reports, while Bhushan Kumar is keen on Shraddha Kapoor playing the lead opposite to Emraan Hashmi, the Bhatts want their own Alia to reprise Pooja’s character from the original. The director for the film is yet to be finalised and it waits to be seen which of the two new actresses makes it to the ‘Lights, Camera, Action’!
