New Delhi: In a surprising move, Emami Ltd has served a legal notice to Arbaaz Khan Productions for using `Zandu balm` in the latest Salman Khan blockbuster `Dabangg` citing copyright infringement.
The Kolkata-based firm`s move is against the usage of the firm`s `Zandu Balm` in the hugely popular item number `Munni Badnaam` in the movie.
"We have issued a legal notice to the production company for using our brand (Zandu) in the song. It is a case of Copyright Infringement," Emami Ltd Director Mohan Goenka told reporters.
He said Emami has asked Arbaaz Khan Productions to respond to the notice.
Officials of Arbaaz Khan Productions could not be contacted for comments.
Asked why Emami decided to issue a notice now, while the song was released a long time back, Goenka: "We were contemplating for a long time and took some time before taking a decision."
Emami`s move has taken industry analysts by surprise, as one of the company`s official has recently said that Zandu Balm`s sales had gone up in the recent past since the release of the song.
The company was understood to be even contemplating to create a new television commercial on the lines of the song.
