Mumbai: You wouldn’t believe who’s coming face-to-face at the Box Office this Eid! Salman Khan and his scorned ex-lover Aishwarya Rai are all set to fight it out in the festive month of September, which the trade experts feel is the best time to release a film to attract maximum audience.
To clear the deck for Salman’s ‘Dabangg’ on 10th September, Karan Johar was prudent enough to shift his film ‘We Are Family’ release dates to 3rd September, however, it’s Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s ‘The Robot’ opposite south icon Rajinikanth, which is said to be slated for a simultaneous release with Sallu bhai’s latest flick.
The promos of ‘Dabangg’ have already created a flutter. Bollywood’s enfant terrible in his Robin Hood act has captured the imagination of his fans the tradewallahs. According to reports given by a television journalist, ‘Dabangg’ promo has the highest number of hits on internet.
On the other hand, the craze for Rajinikanth-Aishwarya starrer ‘The Robot’ in Hindi and ‘Endhiran’ in Tamil is no less for a trade source confirmed to a news daily,“ So far they have only said ‘The Robot’ is coming in September. Whether it will come on Eid will be announced shortly. However, there is scope for both films. ‘Dabanng’ will prove to be very strong in the Hindi belt and Rajnikanth, who is a demi God in Tamil Nadu, has the biggest patronage ever in the South.’’
A Bollywood trade expert further asserts, “The recovery pattern for a Rajinikanth film is very unusual. Besides the regular markets for South films, Rajinikanth also has a huge fan base in Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, UK and Australia.’’
