Mumbai: It doesn`t happen often that one is approached by a filmmaker like Prakash Jha for a movie and when actress Katrina Kaif fell in the same bracket, rather than being pleasantly surprised, she was shocked with non-belief.
"I was shocked when Prakash ji approached me for `Raajneeti`. I asked him if he`d seen any of my films and he was not confusing me with anyone else," said Katrina, who has mostly done lighter roles and plays a politician in `Raajneeti`.
The 25-year-old plays a character inspired from the epic Mahabharata`s Draupadi in the upcoming political drama and considers it to be a big leap.
"This is a different step I`m taking forward (in films) and I hope people like it," she added.
Also starring an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Bajpai and Arjun Rampal, "Raajneeti" is releasing June 4.
