New Delhi: Indo-Canadian filmmaker Keshhav Panneriy will soon head to India to make a film, the story of which is penned by US-based author Purnima Mead. The project is likely to feature a leading Bollywood actress.
The film`s story is based on the struggle of a woman, who dares to dream, and the hardships that she faces in trying to achieve her dream. It also speaks about the way in which women are perceived in Indian urban society with its bias towards men, said a statement. Panneriy believes that the Indian filmmaking market has evolved enough to accept such scripts. "India is a huge and growing entertainment market. When it comes to the nature of filmmaking, content and technical excellence, India has evolved noticeably and so has the audience’s taste," Panneriy added. He hopes that the film will appeal to a large audience base. "Women are being appreciated and accepted in bold, strong and impactful roles today as never before and audiences accept films like `The Lunchbox`, `Aashiqui 2` and `Raanjhanaa`, with great elan. The films have strong female protagonists. I am looking at engaging a wide audience that can connect with the sensitivity through my next film.” Panneriy is credited for directing short films and documentaries like `Eternal Love 2013` and `Chemical Farming: Boon or Disaster?` IANS
