Mumbai: As a boy-next-door in ‘Band Baaja Baarat’, Ranveer Singh -the new kid on the block - made millions of hearts skip a beat. His unconventional good looks, a Greek-god-like physique and inborn talent have helped him reach this far. Thanks to Yash Raj films for giving us Ranveer.
His second film- ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’ produced by YRF - failed to impress the audiences but he bounced back with Vikramaditya Motwane’s critically acclaimed film ‘Lootera’ which showed the calmer side of his personality onscreen. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s adaptation of William Shapespeare- ‘Goliyon ki Raasleela...Ram-leela’, which released in the same year as ‘Lootera’ proved that this boy is immensely gifted and is here to stay forever.
‘Gunday’ alongside Arjun Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra will be his third film with the Yash Raj banner. And if rumours are anything to go by then the young actor is being considered by Aditya Chopra for his next.
Ranveer seems to have turned the new Shah Rukh Khan for the Yash Raj scion. Both Ranveer and SRK have a few things in common- both are flamboyant, charismatic and know how to romance women in the best way (on screen, of course!).
King Khan’s association with the Yash Raj banner dates back to ‘Darr’ which saw the King of Romance portray a negative character. The Khan-Chopra duo have delivered super-hit films like ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’, ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’, ‘Mohabbatein’, ‘Veera Zaara’, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ and last but not the least ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ .
Will Ranveer follow in the footsteps of Shah Rukh Khan and weave magic with YRF?
Here’s wishing the young man all the very best.
