Kangna Ranaut says ‘no’ to ‘Midnight’s Children’
Mumbai: Curvaceous Kangna Ranaut has broken Deepa Mehta`s heart for the ‘Gangster’ babe has just decided to opt out of the filmmaker’s adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s ‘Midnight`s Children.’ Kangna was all set to portray the character of Emerald, but now it has been confirmed that she let go the role citing date issues.
Speaking to a news daily, a disappointed Mehta said, “There were second and third choices for other characters. For Emerald I only wanted Kangna.”
Buzz has it that Deepa Mehta was very excited about the actress. Kangna is one of the few Bollywood stars whom Deepa holds in high regards. While finalising the cast for the movie, she once said to a tabloid, “Yes, Kangna Ranaut has agreed to be part of ‘Midnight’s Children’. I think she’s a wonderful actress, not quite like anyone else that I’ve worked with.”
Apparently, Kangna’s dates played spoilsport as the actress has a quite busy schedule. Talking to a news daily, a source confirmed the report and said, “Kangna did not have dates. She is very busy with ‘Dhamaal 2’, which goes on floors very soon."
However, Kangna has her kitty full with quite a few movies. Nevertheless, an important role in ‘Midnight’s Children’ would have been like a feather in Kangna’s cap.
