New Delhi: Actress Kangna Ranaut has been signed on to play a mujra dancer (nautch girl) in director Vishwas Patil`s ambitious film ‘Rajjo’.
"There is no doubt that Kangna is a talent to reckon with, however, what appealed to me more was that she has a strong Indianess to her that hasn`t been exploited in her roles so far. With Rajjo that is exactly what I aim to do," Patil said in a statement.
"The film looks into the issue of the mujra houses that are dying a slow death in today`s competitive world of high rises and corruption," he added.
‘Rajjo’ tells the tale of passion and hardcore struggle for survival.
Last seen in ‘Tezz’, Kangna too is excited to play the part and feels people will be able to relate to Rajjo.
"When I heard the script of the film. I knew immediately I wanted to be part of it. People will identify with Rajjo`s character and empathise with her struggle," said the actress.
Produced by Four Pillars Entertainment, ‘Rajjo’ will also see Mahesh Manjrekar, essaying the role of a eunuch and Prakash Raj as a politician.
