Mumbai: There’s an update on the release date of Dharma Productions’ latest offering ‘We Are Family’. According to reports, the film will release on September 2, just a day before it was earlier scheduled, i.e. September 3.

Earlier it was announced that in order to avoid a clash with the release of Salman Khan’s upcoming biggie ‘Dabangg’, Karan had to shift the opening dates of his new movie.

As both the movies were slated to release on September 10 in the week of Eid, KJo decided to release his film a week before on September 3 for better Box Office results.

Now, the latest has it that Karan Johar’s ‘We Are Family’ will be released a day ahead. It’s because Janamashtami falls on Sept 2nd and it’s a day off for most of the Indians. This in turn will be favourable for the film in terms of extended weekend footfalls.

Produced by Karan Johar and directed by debutant Siddharth Malhotra, ‘We Are Family’ stars Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in the lead. The film is an official remake of Susan Sarandon-Julia Roberts starrer Hollywood flick ‘Stepmom’.
