Mumbai: As they say “somebody’s loss is somebody else’s gain”, Kareena Kapoor has benefited hugely out of filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar’s most ambitious project `Heroine`.
The film that was almost on the verge of being shelved for good saw daylight when an exasperated returned to his original choice, Kareena for the film. And Kareena made the most of the situation.
Talking to a daily, a source close revealed, “After Aishwarya left the film midway due to her pregnancy, Madhur was left with very few options. At one point in time, the filmmakers had even decided to shelve the project. Madhur was forced to go back to their original choice Kareena Kapoor.”
Madhur was forced to go back to their original choice Kareena Kapoor.
“The deal has now been signed for Rs 8 crore. Though reports suggested that she had asked for Rs 10 crore, the final figure is now Rs 8 crore. This is the biggest amount any actress in the industry has received so far. While the leading actors always get a lot ore money than the heroines, Kareena seems to have broken that barrier,” added the source.
`Heroine` has not only helped Kareena grab Madhur’s project from Aishwarya but has also paved the way for her to become the highest paid Bollywood actress, beating the Bachchan bahu, who was reportedly paid a whopping Rs 6.5 crore for Rajinikanth`s `Robot`.
However, UTV has a different story to tell. The Movie production company denied reports that Kareena has replaced Aishwarya Rai as the lead in Madhur Bhandarkar's project `Heroine`.
Though last week Kareena admitted to a leading news daily that she has signed up for the movie, UTV's official statement tells a different story.
"We would like to clarify that no casting has been finalised for 'Heroine' at all."
`Heroine` is giving Madhur a tough time for sure!
