Mumbai: Remember Mithun Chakraborty`s career-changing hit ‘Pyar Jhukta Nahin’? The 1985 blockbuster changed the direction of the actor`s career from an action-dance star to a romantic hero. Now its producer K.C. Bokadia has hit on an ostensibly ingenious idea to cash in on the popularity of the film to resurrect Govinda`s career.
He has decided to rename his new film, Govinda and Priyanka Chopra starrer ‘Deewaana Main Deewaana’, shot four years ago, as ‘Pyar Jhukta Nahin’. The film is set for a Jan 4 release.
A bit late in the day considering all the film`s publicity ad marketing content have gone out with the original title ‘Deewana Main Deewana’.
The censor board has refused to certify the film with a new name, but Bokadia is determined to bring in the changed title.
Said Bokadia: "I feel the title `Pyar Jhukta Nahin` would be lucky for Govinda. Though it`s late for a change, we`re going ahead calling the film by its new title. Yes, the censor board couldn`t grant me permission to re-title the film at this late stage.
"The censor certificate reads `Deewana Main Deewana` Alias `Pyar Jhukta Nahin`. Now we`ll pitch the new title to the public. Even at this late stage the title `Pyar Jhukta Nahin` would mean more to the masses than the earlier title. There would be instant connectivity between the audience and the title. I`m hoping it`d do to Govinda`s career what the earlier Pyar Jhukta Nahin did for Mithun."
