Mumbai: After ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ raked in some big moolah at the Box Office, it was reported that the sequel of the film would definitely be made. And now, that the plans are about to go on floors, buzz has it that a new actor will replace R Madhavan.
Apparently, the film, which is now being seen a brand franchise is creating tussle between actor Madhavan and the makers. Grapevine has it that Madhavan is demanding a whopping price for his role in the sequel. And since, ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ has Kangna playing an author based role, the producers want to retain the dame but there is speculation that they might replace Tanu’s Manu!
Speaking of this sudden change in plans, a well placed source said, "Yes, they were planning to go with the same pair earlier but once the negotiations for money started, Madhavan upped his fee and demanded a whopping price.”
The producers felt that they could easily afford a top league star with that kind of money.
Also, a source said, “The film has become a brand in its own right and getting a bigger star will take it to another level. So, now they are exploring other options.”
When contacted, director Anand L Rai preferred the ‘no comments’ stance and added that the casting is still in the process.
Meanwhile, there are rumours that Shahid Kapoor or Sharman Joshi would be preferred as they have gentlemanly charm which is quintessential Manu’s character.
