Mumbai: Akshay Kumar`s character in his upcoming film `Patiala House` is said to be inspired by English cricketer Monty Singh Panesar.
Panesar, whose parents had migrated to England from Punjab has a large family in the United Kingdom. Akshay`s character in the new Nikhil Advani-directed film is called Parghat Singh Kahlon, an English citizen who is talented and has always dreamt to be a pace bowler. His parents have migrated years back to London, sources said. The film revolves around a patriarchal family that has to bow down to the wishes and dictats of the father, played by Rishi Kapoor. A father-son drama set in London, it shows all three generations living together under one roof. However, the director said Akshay`s character is not based on just one person. "Every piece of art and creative process is inspired by real life. We did a lot of research on lives of cricketers. But this is not inspired by one person," said Advani. The first theatrical promos were released with `Tees Maar Khan` on December 24. The film, also starring Anushka Sharma and Dimple Kapadia is slated for release on February 11. PTI
