Neil gets booted from the Bollywood remake of ‘The Italian Job’?
Mumbai: Blame it on the failure of ‘Lafangey Parindey’ as rumour has it that Neil Nitin Mukesh has been axed from Abbas-Mustan’s remake of ‘The Italian Job’.
Buzz has it that at a closed door meeting, Studio 18 and Abbas-Mustan made their mind to drop Neil, who is quite unaware of his fate and seems to be laughing off the rumours. Apparently, when Neil was enquired about the latest development in the casting of Abbas-Mustan’s project, he shot back, “LOL. Get your facts right.”
Abbas-Mustan’s ‘Italian Job’ stars Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Omi Vaidya. Neil Nitin Mukesh was supposed to play the role essayed by Edward Norton in the Hollywood flick.
Talking to a news daily, a source said, “‘The Italian Job’ is a very big and prestigious film for Abbas-Mustan. They have been working at it for a long time now. They don’t want to take any chances. Neil’s recent films (‘Aa Dekhen Zara’, ‘Lafangey Parindey’) have not done well. Hence they are contemplating not to retain him in the film. However, Neil has not been informed as yet.”
“Abbas-Mustan took some time to grapple with the modalities of ‘The Italian Job’, but now everything has fallen in place. As of now, they are location scouting in the North Pole. The Italian Job will, in fact, be the first film to be shot in the North Pole,” said the source.
It is believed that the shooting of ‘The Italian Job’ starts in November as the source added, “The film will start with a big schedule in Goa, followed by another long one in New Zealand and then Russia.”
In the Bollywood version, Abhishek will step into Mark Wahlberg’s shoes, Sonam into Charlize Theron’s, Bobby into Jason Statham’s and newbie Omi into Seth Green’s.
