Mumbai, Jan 22: Like all others in the Bollywood fraternity, Farhan Akhtar too seems to be overwhelmed by director Danny Boyle’s presumable masterpiece work based on Indian slums, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. The movie, however, could not keep away from controversies over the story line and the apparent negativity of the slum dwellers.
Even after its astounding success at the ‘Golden Globe’, bagging a total of four awards in the Best Film, Best Original Score, Best Screenplay and Best Director category. ‘Slumdog…’ seems to be going through a tough phase in India. But, contrary to all this, the ever-so-talented actor-director-singer, Farhan Akhtar feels that the movie is perhaps India’s ticket to Hollywood.
Farhan, was undoubtedly all praises of the movie, especially the music, and stated that he was simply awed by AR Rahman’s different approaches and mode in all his films. In interview to a news channel, Farhan said, “AR Rahman has fervently maintained his own differently style for all his movies and albums and his works have been very rewarding.”
On how beneficial is such a success to India, Farhan stated that nominations of Indian movies like ‘Lagaan’, ‘Monsoon Wedding’ and most recently ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, for major awards like the ‘Golden Globe’ and the ‘Oscars’, bring at least a little of attention and recognition to the country.
Farhan said, “Making such movies is an excellent opportunity for us (Indians) to do something on an International level”.
Well, your words are noted Farhan!
