Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ might be creating a lot of buzz ever since its promos hit screens, but the film has been copied from a French movie.
And this revelation came across right after the leading lady Priyanka Chopra blurted out the opening sequence of the film at a press conference. Believe it or not but the film is mainly inspired from a 1999 flick ‘The Girl On The Bridge’.
However, director Siddharth Anand fervently denies all such claims. According to sources, Priyanka told in a press conference that ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ starts off with a girl and boy meeting on a bridge where both have gone to commit suicide.
Nevertheless, Priyanka’s statement has shocked filmmaker Siddharth Anand, who said, "Has she really spoken about it? Well, the similarity to the film is purely coincidental. I haven`t seen ‘The Girl On The Bridge’. I don`t know what it is about. I completely deny any similarity."
Trying to refute charges of plagiarism, Anand further said, "When my first film ‘Salaam Namaste’ released, people said it looked like ‘Hum Tum’. Then for my ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, the talk was that it was copied from ‘Alfie’. No such thing. When people see ‘Anjaana Anjaani’, they`d know it`s an original work."
