Mumbai: Shocked by Amitabh Bachchan’s startling disclosure of Aishwarya Rai’s pregnancy news on Twitter, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is desperately trying to woo Priyanka Chopra while UTV’s Ronnie Screwvala is in talks with Kareena Kapoor to save the fate of ‘Heroine.’
Apparently, Madhur Bhandarkar is looking for Aishwarya Rai’s replacement for ‘Heroine’ and it seems Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor are two top contenders.
With Aishwarya leaving the project midway post her pregnancy, talking to a daily, a source said, “When the film was shelved, owing to Aishwarya’s pregnancy, Madhur Bhandarkar went into a shell. But somehow he has decided to go ahead with it, and there are various names floating around - Katrina Kaif, Vidya Balan, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. But the race is now between Priyanka and Kareena.”
Currently, Kareena is busy with ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Agent Vinod’ while Priyanka is busy with Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfee.’
“Ronnie is trying to work the schedule around them so that the film can go on the floors soon. Ronnie had called Kareena but since she was busy shooting for ‘Bodyguard’ with Salman Khan, they could not meet immediately. Priyanka is in LA and Madhur has spoken to her. He is waiting for her to get back,” added the source.
As of now, ‘Heroine’ stands shelved till its new leading lady is finalised.
