Mumbai: It could be casting coup of sorts. Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor may star in Siddharth Anand’s next film.
While friends Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor have been trying to work together in a film for a long time, looks like Shahid may end up working with Ranbir in Siddharth’s two hero project.
A source informed a leading daily, “Ranbir Kapoor and Siddharth Anand go back a long way. Their fathers were close friends. Ranbir acted in two of Siddharth`s films Bachna Ae Haseeno and Anjaana Anjaani. After the not so successful run of the latter, the two friends drifted apart.”
“Ranbir and Siddharth are all set to work together. That too in a double hero film. It will be Ranbir and Shahid as the two male leads,” added the source.
Even though Ranbir and Siddharth have grown up together, Shahid, was never close to Ranbir. But that’s in the past as the two have become quite pally off late. Ranbir was the first to break the ice when he appreciated the promos of Shahid’s film ‘Mausam’.
Said the source, “Shahid was pleasantly surprised to hear praises about the Mausam trailer from Ranbir. Ranbir and Shahid had hardly ever exchanged pleasantries at social events or functions.” Reciprocating Ranbir’s appreciation, Shahid congratulated Ranbir on the first look trailer of ‘Rockstar’.
Filmmaker Siddharth Anand perhaps decided to cash in on the growing friendship between the two actors, and decided to cast them in his next project. When contacted, Siddharth refused to divulge details, but a source close to both Shahid and Ranbir confirmed, “Yes, Siddharth is putting a project together starring Ranbir and Shahid in the lead.”
