Mumbai: Somebody’s loss is somebody else’s gain. And here, we are talking about Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. Buzz has it that Aditya Chopra had initially approached the Kapoor kid for his film ‘Band Baaja Baarat’. But the actor politely refused the offer.
Now Ranbir must be regretting his decision big time. Little did RK know that his refusal would give Hindi cinema a new superstar in the form of Ranveer Singh.
Adi, who was keen to have junior Kapoor on board for the film was peeved with him for declining his offer. But the filmmaker was determined to launch someone who could give Ranbir a good run for his money.
Talking to a daily, a source close to filmmaker Aditya Chopra revealed, “Adi couldn’t believe Ranbir had turned down the role. It was at that point that the banner decided to create another star comparable in terms of versatility, focus and youth appeal to Ranbir.”
‘Band Baaja Baarat’ sensation, Ranveer Singh must be thanking his stars and even Ranbir Kapoor for his big splash in B-Town. Seldom does an actor achieve instant stardom. But Ranveer did conveniently manage to win over audiences as well as people from the film fraternity.
The source added, “Adi had great confidence in Ranveer. That confidence has multiplied beyond all expectations. Today Yash Raj feels they’ve created Brand Ranveer to rival Brand Ranbir.”
