Mumbai: Actor Ranveer Singh stopped watching television and using his cell-phone while preparing for his forthcoming release ‘Lootera’, a period romance drama.
Set in the 1950s, Vikramaditya Motwane directed film will see Ranveer playing an archeologist.
"It was very interesting to do a period film because a new world is created. I had no clue about 1950s, so to live a character who is living in that era, was very interesting," said Ranvir.
"I did very interesting preparation before playing the character. I stopped watching television and using mobile," the actor told reporters here while shooting for a promo of ‘Master Chef India Grand Finale’ Tuesday.
"I became very calm. I have given a very calm performance," he added.
His last release was 2011 hit ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’ and Ranveer wants to end the `long wait` with ‘Lootera’. Featuring Sonakshi Sinha in the female lead, the film is slated for July 5 release.
"My film is releasing after a very long time, it`s been 19 months when my last film was released. It`s been a long wait. I have seen the film and I am very happy. I am very excited and can`t wait people to see it," said the 27-year-old who made his debut with blockbuster ‘Band Bajaa Baaraat’ in 2010.
