Review: Abhishek-Bipasha starrer ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ packs a powerful punch!
After his ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ fiasco, Abhishek Bachchan makes a great comeback with Rohan Sippy’s racy crime thriller ‘Dum Maaro Dum’.
Also starring Bipasha Basu, Rana Daggubati, Aditya Pancholi, Prateik Babbar, Anaitha Nair and Govind Namdeo, ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ portrays the struggle of ACP Vishnu Kamath (Abhishek), who is entrusted with the task of cleaning up the flourishing drug cartel in Goa. Vishnu, who has been struggling with personal demons and a crumbling career, seeks his last redemption through this arduous mission, where he is pitted against drug lord Lorsa Biscuta (Aditya), sold out cops and innocents (Bipasha, Prateik) trapped in the vicious circle of drugs.
Locked in the danger zone, Vishnu is helped by a local DJ, Joki (Rana), who wants to rescue the innocents, especially his girlfriend Zoey (Bipasha) from the clutches of drug mafia.
Post ‘Dhoom’, Abhishek once again reprises his cool cop with great élan, who loves taking risks, charts his own rules and has the knack of cracking hard-bitten criminals.
In case you think that ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ is a cop story, check out the sizzling chemistry between smouldering hot Bipasha Basu and hunk Rana Daggubati, who light up the screen with their oozing sensuality. Then there is Prateik Babbar and Anaitha Nair`s love story. And yes, the latkas and jhatkas of Deepika Padukone in a sexy item number!
Kudos to Shridhar Raghavan for penning down a taut and gripping script which has all the ingredients to make a Box Office hit and hats off to cinematographer Amit Roy for capturing the beauty of Goa in all its hues.
And yes, don’t forget to check out the foot tapping numbers of Pritam, which makes ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ a great entertainer.
Ratings: Four cheers for this one!
