Review: ‘Double Dhamaal’ lacks fun quotient!

Indra Kumar’s ‘Double Dhamaal’ is a sequel to rib-tickling comedy Dhamaal (2007). Starring Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Ashish Chowdhury, Jaaved Jafri, Kangna Ranaut, Mallika Sherawat and Satish Kaushik, ‘Double Dhamaal’ promises double dose of fun, but what a royal letdown!

Indra Kumar’s ‘Double Dhamaal’ is a sequel to rib-tickling comedy Dhamaal (2007). Starring Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Ashish Chowdhury, Jaaved Jafri, Kangna Ranaut, Mallika Sherawat and Satish Kaushik, ‘Double Dhamaal’ promises double dose of fun, but what a royal letdown! Adi (Arshad Warsi), Manav (Jaaved Jafri), Roy (Riteish Deshmukh) and Boman (Ashish Chowdhury) are once again united in their pursuit of riches. In fact, Adi, Manav, Roy and Boman are so desperate to make it big that they can go to any extent. This time, these four weird friends join hands to teach a lesson to Kabir (Sanjay Dutt), who is living an enviable lifestyle. In the beginning, the four friends try to win over Kabir because he has a super sexy girlfriend Kamini (Mallika Sherawat) and a super hot sister Kiya (Kangna Ranaut). Finally, when Adi, Manav, Roy and Boman realise they have been conned by Kabir – selling sewage water as oil, its payback time. However, things get more complicated when they are chased by tough guy Bata Bhai (Satish Kaushik); the movie becomes all the more chaotic and hilarious. ‘Dhamaal’ was far better than ‘Double Dhamaal’ in terms of story and treatment, it was one crazy, wacky, humorous flick. However, ‘Double Dhamaal’ looks a complete no-brainer, with sparse delight. The film looks more of a cat and mouse chase with Adi, Manav, Roy and Boman trying to get even with Kabir. Performance wise, the boys know their job as Arshad, Jaaved, Ritiesh and Ashish are flawless in their respective roles. Kangna and Mallika hardly have any substantial role as they end up as mere ornamentation. Considering there is hardly any Bollywood film releasing this Friday, ‘Double Dhamaal’ can be a good one time watch. Ratings: Three cheers for this one!
