Siddharth Anand’s ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ is a story of two NRI yuppies – Akash (Ranbir Kapoor) and Kiara (Priyanka Chopra), who accidentally meet on a suicide bid at a Manhattan bridge.
If Akash is facing the backlash of recession, Kiara nurses a broken heart. However, instead of jumping off the bridge, the two end up being together in a pact and as the story progresses, they find love and life amid death.
Ranbir and Priyanka’s scintillating performance brings certain freshness to the film. Just watch out for the scenes where the duo keeps fumbling while helping each other to die. When nothing works, our hapless lead pair shifts their suicide plans by a few weeks and goes on a crazy road trip, thereby providing a new lease of life to their otherwise dull lives.
Ranbir and Priyanka are true professionals who not even once lose the track of their characters. If in the first half of the film we see a wild Priyanka and a moody Ranbir, in the second half of the film, we come across a cheerful Ranbir who tries saving down and under Priyanka from severe mood swings. The beauty of Ranbir and Priyanka’s acting lies in their spontaneity and live-wire performance as they let their hair down in Vegas.
Okay, ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ will remind you of ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ and umpteen flicks where the lead pair goes on a crazy Euro trip, still, ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ is a spunky film with lots of chart-topping peppy numbers to keep you in a cheerful mood. ‘Anjaana Anjaani’ is a treat for the fans of Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.
Ratings: Three cheers for this one!
