Saif starrer Bollywood adaptation of ‘2 States’ put on backburner
Mumbai: Shocked with the Box Office failure of ‘Anjaana Anjaani’, Sajid Nadiawala and Siddharth Anand have stalled the Bollywood adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s popular book ‘2 States’.
Apparently, Nadiawala-Anand, who had already locked Saif Ali Khan and Priyanka Chopra for lead roles have put the project on backburner.
Buzz has it that last week, Nadiawala contemplated on leaving the project. On Sunday evening, Saif had a word with Anand and showed his interest in doing the film. Finally, Nadiawala, Anand and Saif had a long meeting on the fate of the film.
Talking to a daily on the Bollywood adaptation of ‘2 States’, Nadiawala said, “Yes, Anand, Saif and I met up today afternoon. But we have sorted it out and I am back to producing it.”
However, Anand was frank and honest in his opinion and said, “Right now, everything is up in the air. We are trying to figure it out. It was never concrete even earlier.”
When enquired about Saif’s doubts, Anand said, “Kisika pucca nahin hai. We may drop the idea altogether. Agar screenplay crack hota hai, only then. I will see how excited I am at that point of time and then take a call. After that, Saif shall decide.”
Explaining on what drove the project into stasis, Anand said, “We need to adapt the book absolutely correctly. It’s not an easy job. It’s very tough to translate Two States into a screenplay of a film.”
Well, not long back, Chetan Bhagat said, “It’s still too early and Siddharth is yet to decide on who would be writing the screenplay of the film on Two States. But I am available to them if they require my assistance on that front too.”
