Sajid promises 5 crore tag to Arjun Rampal post `Housefull`
Mumbai: Sajid Khan is a confident man and that`s what led him to make an unusual promise to Arjun Rampal. Sajid has assured the actor that his character in `Housefull` will turn out so well that his price tag would go up to Rs 5 crore post the release of the film.
Naturally, Rampal is a tad shy when reminded of the incident.
"Well, I hope his predictions come true for me. As for the character making an impact on screen, I can trust Sajid because he is one guy who is supremely confident about his work," Rampal said.
"Sajid knows what he wants, he is very clear that he is making an entertainer and his target audience is an entire family. He makes universal films and wants people from different parts of India to follow his work. I love that confidence in him," Said Rampal.
Well, one has indeed heard stories of Sajid`s confidence when it comes to `Housefull`. On the first day of the shoot of `Housefull`, the young filmmaker handed over a letter to each of the stars that read- `Welcome to the biggest hit ever of your career`.
"Can you believe that. The moment he handed me over that letter, I was like `Yeah man, this is really crazy stuff`. But then when you get something like this in writing, it automatically instils similar energy in you as well. You really want to give your best because you know that he won`t be expecting and accepting anything lesser from you."
When asked to detail his character of Major Krishna Rao in the film, Rampal said, "He is someone who has travelled the world. By nature he is quite a suspicious and obsessive man."
Though the 37-year-old actor is playing a South Indian in the film, there has been a conscious effort not to project his mannerisms and body language as a caricature. "There are a few nuances of being a South Indian here and there but that`s about it", he said.
Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh are the other main leads in the film but Rampal does not see any competition coming his way.
"I have seen the film and I am amazed that how audience is going to take each and every character back home", he said.
"Sajid has presented all of us so well in the film that I am sure nobody is going to feel left out. I have worked in multi starrers before and I know how it is so difficult to justify the presence of each and every leading character but I am very happy with the way `Housefull` has shaped up."
Starring Rampal, Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Lara Dutta, Deepika Padukone, Jiah Khan and Boman Irani, the film is slated to hit theatres on April 30.
