Mumbai: Clearing air about Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s biopic, ‘Bodyguard’ producer Atul Agnihotri rubbished rumours and said it was never planned to be made in Hindi. He also denied reports that Salman Khan was associated with the project.
Buzz had it that Atul was interested in making a film on Rajini with Salman playing the lead. However, there were disagreements between the makers of the film and Rajini’s family, following which the plans to make the biopic went for a toss.
Talking to a daily, Atul said, “First of all, Salman Khan was never a part of the film. The moment the author (who has rights of the biopic) approached me with the idea of translating it into a movie, we decided for a Tamil release.”
Elaborating further, he added, “Secondly, we are looking for a Southern actor, who will play Rajinikanth in the film. So, the question about Salman playing the lead role doesn’t arise.”
When enquired about the reaction of Rajinikanth’s family, Atul revealed, “No, in fact, I had spoken to his daughter Soundarya over the phone and informed about the big step of transforming the book into a Tamil film. So again, we left no space for them to get angry or something.”
