Mumbai: Disappointed by the poor show of ‘Rascals’ at the Box Office, Sanjay Dutt has decided to scrap the sequel of the film.
Apparently, Dutt is least interested in ‘Rascals 2’ as he told a daily, “No way! It was an average film and why should I make it a sequel? I expected it to be a hit for sure - maybe not as big a hit as ‘Dabangg’ or ‘Singham’, but better than how it finally fared.”
A highly placed source revealed, “Obviously, Dutt is upset that the film hasn`t done well. He`s upset with director David Dhawan for the weak script. It was Sanju`s first home production. He was busy with the shooting for ‘Agneepath’ and couldn`t look into ‘Rascals’ as much as he would have liked to. But after the bad experience, Sanju is taking more care into looking into the scripts of his future films. Not just that, he has told directors of his films ‘Department’ and ‘Zilla Ghaziabad’ that if he doesn`t approve of the rushes, he will shoot again. Last week, he went to Ram Gopal Varma`s office to see the rushes of ‘The Department’.”
Sanjay Dutt’s business manager Dharam Oberoi added, “Sanju has now decided to move ahead with his other productions including ‘Satte Pe Satta’. Sanju went to meet Ramu to check out the rushes of ‘Department’ and has told the producer of ‘Zilla Ghaziabad’ too that he will re-shoot the entire film if necessary as he doesn`t want his films to wind up the way ‘Rascals’ has done.”
