Mumbai: Filmmaker Deepak Balraj Vij is all set to make a sequel of his 1992 musical hit `Jaan Tere Naam`.
The original catapulted its lead actors Ronit Roy and Farheen to stardom. Its music was also a chartbuster with songs like `Akha India Janta Hai`, `Kal College Band Ho Jayega, and `Romance Period` etc.
Titled `Jaan Tere Naam 2` (JTN2), the movie will star newcomers in the lead roles and will be a musical with dance sequences.
"It has been 21 years since `Jaan Tere Naam` released and I have been toying with the idea of directing it all over again with an entirely fresh setting, concept and newcomers," Vij said in a statement here.
The director insists they are looking for someone having excellent dancing skills as it is must for the lead pair.
"We intend to hold a nationwide talent hunt to select the lead pair. The story idea is ready and if all things fall into place we should finalise the lead pair by August end and start shooting in September or October." he said.
The filmmaker has already got on board lyricist Javed Akhtar, music director Anu Malik and choreographer Longinus Fernandes for the movie.
Vij has films like `Zakhmee Insaan`, `Sailaab`, and `Aaya Toofan` among others to his credit.
