Shah Rukh chops Priyanka’s part in Bhardwaj’s ‘2 States’
Mumbai: Strange but true, on Shah Rukh Khan’s insistence, Vishal Bhardwaj kicked out Priyanka from the film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s ‘2 States’ for a ‘fresh face’.
Apparently, SRK never had a camp of heroines. If you are lucky enough to have worked with him, it does not imply that you will be a part of his future projects. It seems Priyanka Chopra has learnt her lesson the hard way.
Despite working with Shah Rukh in ‘Don’ (2006) and its sequel ‘Don 2’, Priyanka cannot take for granted that she will feature alongside SRK in Bhardwaj’s ‘2 States’.
Buzz has it that SRK had a word with Vishal Bhardwaj, who readily agreed with SRK’s vision and soon Priyanka was out of the project.
Confirming the reports to a daily, a source said, “Initially when the film was solely produced by Nadiadwala, it was Siddharth Anand who was directing the film and Saif Ali Khan and Priyanka were to play the lead roles. Although Saif and Siddharth are no longer in the project, Priyanka still continued to be the choice for the leading lady. Until now that is.”
“Vishal flew down to Berlin, where SRK and Piggy were shooting for ‘Don 2’. He narrated the revised script to both the actors in the same room; sure enough they liked it. This was the second narration Piggy Chops was hearing, after the one from Siddharth,” said the source.
However, after returning home, Shah Rukh had a meeting with Vishal and told him that he wanted a fresh face for the lead role.
Elucidating exactly what Shah Rukh said to Vishal, the source added, “He told Vishal that he knew Priyanka was one of his favourite heroines, but the demands of the script could not be ignored.”
Now that’s destiny Priyanka!
