Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan, the inimitable romantic hero of Bollywood, is no longer interested in love stories.
Apparently, King Khan, who is currently doing a romantic flick with YRF, is reluctant to sign back-to-back romantic films and has categorically told Vishal Bharadwaj and Sajid Nadiadwala that he would prefer a Shakespeare classic rather than working in ‘2 States’.
After ‘RA.One’, Shah Rukh Khan wants to play the brooding prince in his next film. It is believed that after discussing ‘2 States’ with Bharadwaj and Nadiawala, SRK insisted on working in Bharadwaj’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’.
Talking to a daily, a source said, “Shah Rukh clearly told producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Vishal Bharadwaj that he didn`t want to work on another love story. He is already doing a romantic film with Yash Chopra and so, to go straight into the romantic space again seems redundant. Shah Rukh suggested that he go into the ‘Maqbool’-‘Omkara’ space with Vishal.”
Buzz has it that SRK will essay Hamlet in Bharadwaj`s next. “Shah Rukh loved what Vishal did with Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan in ‘Omkara.’ They plan to shoot the Bollywood adaptation of ‘Hamlet’ in the remote areas of North India,” added the source.
Vishal Bharadwaj has earlier adapted William Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ and ‘Othello’ for ‘Maqbool’ and ‘Omkara’.
