Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor’s imitation of Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun’ look might have failed to work its magic in ‘Mausam’, but the chocolate boy actor has literally managed to step into the shoes of the Hollywood icon.
Believe it or not, Shahid Kapoor has been roped in by Fox Studios for a Bollywood remake of Tom Cruise-Cameron Diaz starrer ‘Knight and Day’ (2010). The film will go on floor in 2012 and will be directed by Siddharth Anand.
Talking to a daily on Fox Studios’ decision to cast Shahid, a source said, “Fox Studios feels that Shahid has immense potential to carry out Tom Cruise’s histrionics convincingly. They find him to be an actor who can portray a gamut of emotions if and when required.”
Apparently, Shahid was upset when ‘Mausam’ didn’t fare well at the Box Office. When Fox Studio approached the actor, Shahid immediately gave his approval. “Also, Shahid is very close to Anand. They share a very good equation. They have worked on some television commercials together,” said the source.
While Shahid will play Cruise’s part, Diaz’s part is up for grabs. “The leading lady is yet to be finalised. The official announcement is on its way. They will announce it soon enough as they want to go on floors next year,” added the source.
