Sonam to do a Lindsay in desi remake of ‘Freaky Friday’
Mumbai: B-town hottie Sonam Kapoor, who’s apparently said to have an international feel about her, is all set to emulate Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan onscreen. According the latest buzz, Sonam is gearing up to play the lead role in the Indian version of LiLo starrer ‘Freaky Friday’, to be produced by none other than daddy Anil Kapoor.
Reports reveal that Anil has bought the remake rights of Walt Disney Productions` blockbuster flick ‘Freaky Friday’, and the actor would produce the desi version under his banner.
Confirming the news, a source said, "When he was in Los Angeles recently for the wrap-up party of his TV series ’24,’ Anil met up with Disney officials to discuss the deal. It was his daughter Sonam who suggested that he should remake the film. Just the paper work needs to be signed. The film will start this year-end, once all the negotiations are complete."
Grapevine has it that while Sonam has been signed on to play Lindsay’s part, Anil is keen to have Kirron Kher to play the mother`s part, which was played by Jamie Lee Curtis in the original version of the mother-daughter comedy drama.
However, a source says, "Kirron has turned down the role citing date problems but relations between the Khers and the Kapoors have been strained, and that could well be the reason for this snub. The other names that the actor is toying with, are Rekha and Shabana Azmi. The film will be directed by Priyadarshan."
