Mumbai: The Censor Board got tough with debutant director and veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor when a promo of his film `Mausam` had a buffalo that was passing by in a shot. And the filmmaker was made to obtain clearance from the Animal Welfare Board to retain the shot.
There are several other filmmakers who face difficulties in getting authorisation from CB. But Abbas-Mustan’s latest `Players` escaped the Board’s scissors.
Sonam Kapoor, who plays one of the lead characters in the multi-starrer that also features Bipasha Basu, Abhishek Bachchan and Neil Nitin Mukesh has the pretty lass showing her middle finger in one of its trailer.
Talking to a daily, an observer said, “There is this fun action sequence in the film where Sonam Kapoor is driving a car at a high speed. She then goes on to challenge herself and parks her car rather smartly in the smallest space possible. Once she does that, she shows her middle finger to someone who is not visible to the camera. Though it is supposed to be a fun gesture, time and again something like that has always come under Censor Board`s radar since the middle finger act comes with its own connotations.”
Is the director duo lucky to escape the Censor Board’s whipping or has the authorising body been too lenient on them for having big names on board?
Well only the CB chief can tell!
