Mumbai: Legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi are all set to share screen space after 18 long years! The duo will star in director Balki’s wife Gauri Shinde’s directorial debut film, ‘English Vinglish’.
Big B and Sridevi were last seen in 1993 hit, ‘Khuda Gawah’ and have also worked in ‘Inquilaab’ and ‘Akhree Rasta’. Back in 1993, ‘Khuda Gawah’ was a super hit and had also fetched the leading actors Filmfare nomination. It was also rumoured that it would be Big B’s last film. But, after a sabbatical for few years, Big B came back while Sridevi got married and became a full time mom.
‘English Vinglish’ is being touted as Sridevi’s comeback film and Amitabh Bachchan makes a special appearance in the film. Infact the duo have already shot one scene and caught up on the sets of the film.
Speaking to a daily, Balki, the director of Big B starrer Cheeni Kum and Paa, informed, “It’s actually a two-day cameo for Mr Bachchan, and not an after-thought. Gauri had written the cameo with Mr Bachchan in mind. We were to shoot last week. But then the blasts happened. So now we have shot on Monday and will have to find another day for this dream team to come together.”
Apparently Mr Bachchan immediately said an yes to the cameo without hesitation. It is the role of a fellow-passenger that Sridevi meets on a flight. “It’s actually a very funny mid-air cameo. And only Mr Bachchan could do it. My wife and I are grateful he agreed,” said Balki.
In her comeback film, Sridevi plays a housewife who enrolls for English speaking course to impress her husband and family.
Sources have revealed that the actress was delighted to have Mr Bachchan on sets and had specially got home cooked food for the entire unit on the given day.
Even though they would share very little screen space together, their fans are definitely looking forward to this one.
