Mumbai: Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra is miffed with Censor Board chief Sharmila Tagore for objecting to the title of his upcoming film `Yeh Saali Zindagi`.
The director says he will not change the title because he feels there is nothing abusive about the word `Saali` in the name.
"There is no way the title can be changed. I have got clearance from Censor Board on October 1. We have the signature of the officer-in-charge. We have nine censor certificates. I don`t know what the problem is," Mishra said.
Tagore had said that titles like `Kaminey` and `Yeh Saali Zindagi` were encouraging an unhealthy trend but Mishra, who is known for having his run ins with the board, is upset with the actress.
"Now that our money has gone in, promos and trailers are on, the film is releasing on February 4. I have no idea about their displeasure with the title. If they had any problem they should have said on October 1," he said.
`Yeh Saali...` is a romantic thriller starring Irrfan Khan, Arunoday Singh, Chitrangda Singh and Aditi Rao Hydari.
"`Saali` is not a bad or abusive word. It was a song (Zindagi pe tera mera kiska na zor nahi hai?hum sochte kuch hai yeh saali sochti kuch aur hai...yeh saali zindagi hai) and this is how the title of the film happened," Mishra said.
On the usage of the title in his real life, Mishra, said, "All of us has some grievances in their life. But sometimes problems solve your life. Sometimes life turns you round... flip-flops you so one feels why this thing happened after so many good things. Life is a complicated journey. In my life there were instances when I have said `yeh saali zindagi`."
"When I was a 22-year-old, a girl refused to marry me..it was like the end of the world to me. Today I think she saved my life because I wouldn`t have become a filmmaker. Then when I did not get admission in a university in America... if chosen I would have become a clinical psychologist. It is about how chance plays a role in your life," he said.
"Life has a habit of surprising you thats why `saali` not because it is bad," Mishra added.
