Sushmita’s 130cr venture ‘Rani Laxmibai’ shelved

Mumbai, Feb 04: Sushmita Sen’s ambitious and much-hyped venture, that was also to be her directorial debut, has been shelved unceremoniously. ‘Rani Laxmibai’ was to be a whopping 130crore dream project of former Miss Universe, Bollywood actor and style icon Sushmita Sen. The film had been in the pipeline for quite some time now, and the snail-paced progress in it’s production made a television channel sneak the idea from under Sush’s nose. And poof! The dream seems a far cry from reality now.The shocker is all the more intense for Sush because after much deliberation, almost everything, including the script, budget locations and horses had been finalised before the ugly wind reached her. “The investors obviously weren’t too happy about this as the serial would be on air before the film’s release. They then backtracked and the project is now shelved. The hired staff has been asked to leave too,” a source close to the project informed a news daily. Sushmita is compelled to put the project on hold till new investors come into picture. This time too much deliberation (or procrastination) has become a problem. Hope Sush learns some lessons and hurries up. Lest her career becomes an intriguing mystery going nowhere – much like her love-life!
