Mumbai: Hollywood ace Russell Crowe and Bollywood hunk John Abraham’s paths have crossed but the experience has left bitter memories for John. The actor was reportedly ready to create history this month by being the first Indian to shoot a song sequence at London’s Leicester Square for a film by Abbas Tyrewala. But all hell broke loose when Russell Crowe intervened and booked the venue for the premiere of his new film ‘Robin Hood’ on May 14.
The authorities, who had earlier consented to Abbas Tyrewala’s plans backed out at the last minute. The director, who had taken great pains to get the permission, said that they would finish the shoot before Russell’s big day but to no avail. The unit was to proceed to London to start shooting from May 11 but the plans changed.
A source said that shooting at Leicester Square was an intrinsic part of the script but now changes need to be done. The cast and crew of Tyrewala’s film are unhappy about the incident. A new location is being hunted because the shooting cannot be postponed considering visas and working permits would be impossible a second time.
So, in a show of retaliation, the cast and crew has decided to boycott ‘Robin Hood’ altogether!
