Chennai: Hundreds of visitors converged at the fifth International Christian Book Fair in Chennai to see a two-kilometer- long Bible that was on display.

Jose Thomas, one of the organizers of the event, said: “Here, we could see lots of varieties of books and Holy Bibles are displayed. Specially, I would like to express and inform that we have a special attraction. The 97 kilograms, two kilometres that means 500 metres single lamination full Bible genesis revelation, we have displayed that we could see is very attractive. Lot of people are watching. People are excited about that.”

He also mentioned that it took approximately three months to complete the Bible. Nearly 90 men from different parts of the state were hired to accomplish the job.

Initially, volunteers struggled, as they had to lift the scroll in order to display the first chapter of the Bible.

The single lamination full Bible contains colourful pictures as well. The fair also showcased different Bibles that were meant for kids, men and women.

A large number of people, including students from all walks of life, gathered at the venue on the first day of nine-day-long event.

“I have come to this bookshop. It is really amazing and other books are really amazing with different people of different age groups are visiting this event. Teens have separate Bibles and kids have their own Bibles and the CDs are really amazing. The prices are amazing and I heard that 10,000 varieties of books are available here and I really feel that this is a wonderful opportunity for people to come up to this place and purchase whatever they want,” said Janice Thomas, a student.

Apart from that the visitors were also attracted towards the Bibles imported from United States of America (USA), China, Korea and South Africa.

The event was organised by OM Bookshop and will conclude on August 12.
