Mumbai: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan launched a book written by a senior government official, which talks about destiny, love and youth.

Bachchan launched IAS officer Vipul Mittra`s second novel titled `The Dream Chasers` in Mumbai on Thursday.

Interacting with media, Bachchan said he was too preoccupied with acting in films to write a book.

"I do not have the capacity to write a book, and, I am having a tough time being an actor. So, to start another profession or, another vocation, would be very difficult for me, I have always kept away from that," he said.

Bachchan also rejected thoughts of playing a similar character as it comes to mind while reading the book.

"Many a times, you come across characters in books which you at that time feel that you should be doing. That is like more of a childish dream than anything else. But as you grow up, I think because of the profession that I am in, you wonder whether a film could be made, and perhaps, if you were given an opportunity to work that character in that film, but there`s never been anything specific," said Bachchan.

Indian cinema, with its subset of Bollywood for Hindi-language films, is now a billion-dollar industry that makes more than a thousand films a year in several languages.

It is worth over two billion dollars and leads the world in terms of films produced and tickets sold.

Besides Bollywood, which has global appeal, India also has a vibrant regional-language film industry, especially in southern states where film stars are often worshipped in temples specially built for them.
