New Delhi: Anjali Joseph’s ‘Saraswati Park’ has been selected as one of 4 short listed titles for the third round of Rising Stars promotion for 2010.

Published by HarperCollins, ‘Saraswati Park’, is a book about love and loss – and how, in spite of everything, life, both lived and imagined, continues. It is not only elliptical and enigmatic, but beautifully rendered and wonderfully involving.

Rising Stars was launched to highlight and support debut novels. 4 titles are shortlisted, three times a year and are presented to Amazon’s customers to read and review. The winner of each round is selected based on customer ratings.

The winner of the third round will be announced in October. At the end of the year, the customers will be reminded of all 12 titles and their reviews and the Rising Star of the Year will be chosen. The winner will be announced in the Autumn alongside Amazon’s feature on the Best Books of 2010.

The debut novelist, Anjali Joseph was born in Mumbai in 1978. She read English at Trinity College, Cambridge, has taught at the Sorbonne, written for the Times of India in Mumbai, and been a commissioning editor for Elle (India). In 2008, she did her MA in creative writing at the University of East Anglia. She lives in London and Mumbai.
