Christopher Hitchens honoured with Orwell Memorial Prize

New Delhi: At a ceremony held in Westminster, Christopher Hitchens was awarded with a Memorial at the Orwell Prize 2012 for political writing. Christopher Hitchens succumbed to cancer at the age of 62 last year, and the gathering at Westminster saw his widow, Carol Blue, accept the award, a leading daily has reported.

This year’s Orwell Prize was awarded to Toby Harnden for his book ‘Dead Men Risen’, which deals with the death of a British officer in Afghanistan. An edited version of the Orwell-winning book by Harnden was published since the Ministry of Defence had destroyed the first print of the same.
