Slowly, Haji developed close proximity with Bollywood and even started financing films silently. He also started to attend parties of film stars. In one of these parties he noticed Sona and was so attracted to her that he made her a heroine in one of the films. He even bought her a palatial bungalow in Juhu.
Haji’s business partner Yusuf Patel did not like Haji’s lifestyle. A reporter of a newspaper started writing against Haji continuously on the instructions of Patel. Haji got to know of the same but did not want to fight with Patel so he decided to get that reporter killed. Haji had conspired to kill Patel also. So he gave bribe to Karim Lala’s Pathan gang. But instead of Patel, his driver was shot dead. After this narrow escape, Patel decided to give up smuggling. Patel now separated from Haji and so did Dawood. Dawood began strengthening himself in Nagapada and in all regions of the state. Now that Patel and Dawood had split up with Haji, the groundwork for future gangwar was laid. Haji knew that once gangwar began then no one would survive. Haji had started bidding adieu to the world of crime. He got attracted to politics and floated his own party named -Dalit Muslim Mahasangh. Haji’s last days were spent in loneliness. He used to remain lost and now his friends were cigarettes and a Tamil newspaper. Alongwith Haji one generation of the underworld came to an end. Who were the new faces of the underworld?
