Prominent writer Kirtan Parida passes away

Rourkela: Noted writer and social activist Kirtan Parida died at Bhubaneswar yesterday following cardiac arrest, family sources said. He was 59.

Parida was an employee of the State Bank of India (SBI) Rourkela branch and is survived by wife and two sons.

Parida who had been to Bhubaneswar to visit his ailing brother experienced chest pain while he was returning.

He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead, the sources said here.

Parida had written many books and was associated with several literary organisations.

His body was brought here last night and cremated at Vedvyas ghat near here today.

Several leading citizens and writers bodies mourned his death.
