Veteran author Sunil Gangopadhayay passes away
New Delhi: West Bengal woke up to a shocking news on the final day of Durga Puja as one Bengal literature’s most noted author Sunil Gangopadhayay passed away following a massive heart attack. The author was 78.
One of the most celebrated author of his times, Gangopadhayay was known for his realistic modern style of writing which was popular across generations.
Born in 1934 in Bangladesh, Gangopadhayay did his masters in Bengali literature from Calcutta University.
The author was also popular by his pen name-Nillohit and was a regular contributor to various Bengali journals.
Some of his works like Aranyer Dinratri, Pratidwandi were made into films while Shei Shomoy and Prothom Alo were made into TV series.
The Sahitya Academy award winning author was an active writer till his last days.
