This Bollywood phenomenon was born to Meer Mohammad Taj Khan and Lateef Fatima Khan. They were of Pathan ethnicity from Peshawar and Rawalpindi. They migrated to India before the partition. He was school in St. Columba’s School, and was a good sportsperson and academician there. A very active student, he won the ‘Sword of Honour’ before stepping out of the school. He did his Bachelors in Economics from Hansraj College, then majored in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia. He then studied acting under Theatre Director Barry John (TAG), and debuted in a TV serial ‘Dil Dariya’ (1998). Here he became a noted actor, until he stepped into films.
His debut movie, ‘Deewana’ (1992), won him instant recognition as the best debutant. Since then he has not looked back and has shown his acumen in every stage of the growing success that he has become now. ‘King Khan’, as he has been tagged, rules Bollywood, and forms a major pillar of contemporary Mumbai Film Industry for more than a decade now.
The prolific actor has acted in 71 projects, produced nine, sung in five movies, hosted two TV shows, ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and ‘Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?’ and has appeared in 13 in total! He started his own production company ‘Dreamz Unlimited’ with Juhi Chawla and Aziz Mirza, and Red Chillies Entertainment, which owned ‘Kolkata Knight Riders’ in the IPL Cricket.
