Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone is the daughter of former badminton champion Prakash Padukone and Ujjala, a travel agent.

She also has a younger sister, Anisha.

She was born in Denmark and her family moved to Bangalore when she was only eleven months old.

The model-turned-actress did her schooling from Sophia High School, Bangalore and completed her graduation at Mount Carmel College. While in high school, she played badminton at the state level like her father and was a member of her father`s badminton club. However, she was not keen on pursuing a career as a badminton player as she found her true calling in a career in modelling world.

She started by starring in the music video for the song `Naam Hai Tera` from the independent pop album ‘Aap Kaa Surroor’ by Himesh Reshammiya.

Deepika made her debut in the South Indian film industry in 2006 with the Kannada film ‘Aishwarya’ directed by Indrajit Lankesh, which was declared a hit at the box-office.

She made a successful entry in Bollywood with ‘Om Shanti Om’ (OSO), as the film went on to become the biggest hit of the year, both in India and abroad.
