Los Angeles: Hollywood action star Sylvester Stallone says that the action genre is fading away because of films showing superheroes laden with extraordinary powers.
The 65-year-old actor, who is known for his action roles in films like ‘Rambo’ and ‘Rocky’, will be next seen in action flick ‘Expendables 2’, reported a website. "The action genre unfortunately is becoming... Let`s just say it`s fading away. You have the superheroes today which are possessed with all extraordinary powers; they can blink and a fireball comes out of there. It`s great. And then you have a bunch of us which is just your basic male-pattern badness... Kind of like hands-on action," he said. In ‘Expendables 2’ Stallone will reprise the role of Barney Ross while Jason Statham, Jet Li,Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis will also be seen in it. There are also some new faces on the cast this time around including Jean Claude Van Damme and Liam Hemsworth. Stallone will also be reuniting with Schwarzenegger on another action film ‘The Tomb’, which is currently being filmed. ‘Expendables 2’ will hit the theatres on August 17. PTI
