Actor Chace Crawford arrested for marijuana possession

Los Angeles: `Gossip Girl` star Chace Crawford has been arrested for possession of marijuana outside an Irish pub in hometown Plano, Texas. The 24-year-old actor, who shot to fame with his role of a Manhattan rich kid Nate Archibald in the hit show, was booked and later released on a misdemeanour charge of possessing less than two ounces of marijuana.

According to the arrest report of Plano Police department, the actor, full name Christopher Chace Crawford, was sitting inside a 2003 Nissan in the parking lot of Ringo`s Pub when police swooped in the early hours yesterday morning. The misdemeanour charge carries a maximum of 180 days in jail and a fine of USD 2,000, the CNN reported. Crawford has won two Teen Choice acting awards for his role in `Gossip Girl`, which is in its fourth season on the CW network. Incidentally, the young star plays a teenage drug dealer in his next big screen role in `Twelve`, which also stars rapper 50 Cent and Kiefer Sutherland. He is also slated to star in an upcoming remake of the 1984 film `Footloose`. PTI
