Actress Zoe Saldana says she's happy to be a role model
London: `Avatar` star Zoe Saldana finds it a "privilege" to be a role model for women and wants to be an inspiration for them.
The actress feels lucky that females look up to her and she wants to show them women can do whatever they want without having to conform to society`s expectations, a news website reported.
"I guess I`m a role model now, and that is a privilege. I think women were fighting because we wanted to be feminine. Then we had to be masculine. Now we just want to be us," Saldana said.
While she is now a role model for other women, Saldana says she used to look up to her grandmother when she was younger, especially when it came to fashion.
"I love fashion. My grandmother and great-grandmother were seamstresses, so I know fashion on an artistic level, not as labels, labels, labels. My grandmother, if she wore here, would touch your dress, look at the seam," Saldana said.
"She was obsessed with buttons. She`d take off my shoes and say, `This is good leather, a good investment`," she added.
